The University of Louisville invites applications for a tenure-track
position as Assistant Professor of Humanities in Islamic Studies with a
focus on religion and culture. Candidates must be qualified to teach
Islamic religion, thought, and culture within an interdisciplinary
humanities program. Area of specialization is open and may include the
history of Islamic thought and movements, theories of religion, art and
material culture, and/or gender and religion. Expertise in Islamic
textual traditions and in Islam in the global context is especially
desirable. Teaching load is four semester courses per year (2/2) and
will include classes at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The
successful candidate will be asked to contribute to a Global area within
the Humanities Ph.D. program and interdisciplinary programs in Middle
East and Islamic Studies, Asian Studies, and/or Pan-African Studies.
Qualified candidates should have a Ph.D. by June, 2013, evidence of
teaching experience, and a record of research and publications. The
