Job assignments

The successful candidate(s) will primarily teach in the Department’s first- and second-cycle courses and programmes in Religious Studies and Theology, with a focus on Behavioural Studies. Teaching within the framework of the University’s teacher education programmes may also be required.

The position also includes research and cooperation with the rest of society.
Eligibility

Qualified for appointment as Senior Lecturer is a person who has been awarded a PhD or has achieved equivalent qualifications. Applicants must also have demonstrated teaching expertise.
Assessment

In the assessment of applicants, equal weight will be given to scholarly proficiency and teaching expertise. Weight will also be given to administrative qualifications and ability to cooperate with the rest of society.

In the assessment of an applicant’s scholarly proficiency, particular weight will be given to documented scholarly proficiency within the fields of sociology of religion, psychology of religion and/or a related area. The proficiency must be demonstrated through scholarly publications. Active participation in scholarly networks and collaborative projects will also be considered an advantage.

In the assessment of an applicant’s teaching expertise, particular weight will be given to documented teaching experience as well as documented experience with development work within the subject area of the position. This applies to both theoretical and practical elements, such as field studies. Weight will also be given to documented expertise within educational leadership, ability to supervise students as well as ability to cooperate within and across disciplinary boundaries.

The applicant(s) selected for employment will be the one(s) who, following an overall assessment of proficiency within the relevant subject area, is/are deemed to have the best qualifications for carrying out the tasks included in the position, collaborating with other staff and contributing to positive development within the Department and the subject area.
