CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Please forward all submissions to spiritualityconference@twu.ca
Due: February 15, 2019
This international conference gathers spiritual health practitioners, healthcare providers, researchers, scholars and students, and healthcare leaders from across practice and academic settings to discuss person-centredness—the ideal that the person is at the centre of the care they receive.
Abstracts (200 words) are invited that feature empirical, theoretical, historical, educational or practice-oriented discussion on person-centredness and healthcare. Examples of possible topics include: organizational capacity for person-centredness; human rights/social justice and person-centredness; spirituality and person-centredness; diversity and person-centredness; education and professional development for person-centredness; and theological foundations for person-centredness.
Oral (paper) presentation. Oral (paper) sessions allow authors to present papers for discussion detailing empirical, theoretical, historical, educational, or practice-oriented perspectives. We welcome abstracts from completed or in-progress scholarly work (including student theses and knowledge translation projects). Oral (paper) sessions involve authors presenting for 20 minutes, with 5 minutes allocated for discussion.
Poster Presentation. A poster presentation allows a presenter to provide a visual summary of their research and/or innovation for conference delegates. A poster should be self-contained and self-explanatory, allowing different viewers to proceed on their own while the author is free to supplement or discuss particular points raised in enquiry. There will be dedicated time allocated in the conference program for poster viewing in a facilitated group.
Lightning Talks. Lightning Talks a great opportunity to reach a wide audience, with a varied, visual, and engaging presentation. Lightning Talks is a presentation in which 20 slides are shown for 20 seconds each. The slides only show visuals, and not words. The speaker tells a story that is illustrated by the slides, for a total of 7 minutes of oral commentary.
SUBMISSION FORMAT
All abstracts of 200 words are to be submitted by February 15, 2019 by 12:00 Midnight (Pacific Standard Time) to spiritualityconference@twu.ca Please indicate your preference for an oral, poster, or Lightning Talks presentation, or no preference. All abstracts will be independently and blindly reviewed by the Program Committee. Selection of abstracts for presentation will be based on scholarly merit and relevance to the conference topics.
