Postdoctoral Fellowship Position, Religious Studies, University of Ottawa
Start Date: 1 July 2021, duration: one year
The Transmission of Religion across Generations project is seeking candidates for a postdoctoral researcher who holds a recent PhD in Religious Studies or related field, and is trained in qualitative social scientific method. The project aims to understand how religion or nonreligion is passed from one generation to another within families in Canada. It seeks to understand how the passing on of faith, values, and worldviews takes place across generations, addressing the question of the main factors in the successful or non-successful transmission of faith and practice in different cultural contexts. The project is multinational, being carried out also in Finland, Germany, Hungary, and Italy.
Applicants should:
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills in English (oral and written) (French/English bilingualism is an asset);
• Have recently completed a PhD in a relevant area;
• Be legally eligible to work in Canada;
• Demonstrate solid experience and competence in qualitative methods, including conducting fieldwork, interviews, focus groups, qualitative analysis (including use of relevant software), etc.
