“Rebuilding: Tradition and Innovation” – 50th Annual Conference on South Asia

 In All, Call for Papers

We are excited to announce the submission portal for the 50th Annual Conference on South Asia will open on Tuesday, February 1, 2022, for all proposal types. The theme for this year’s conference is Rebuilding: Tradition and Innovation. We invite proposals related to all countries of South Asia across a diverse range of disciplines. The 50th ACSA is scheduled to meet in-person, October 19-22, 2022 (Wed-Sat), at the Madison Concourse Hotel and Governor’s Club in Madison, Wisconsin.

Submission Deadlines (by 11:59 PM CST)

-Symposium proposals: Tuesday, March 1, 2022
-Panel, round table, and single paper proposals: Monday, April 4, 2022
-Film proposals: Friday, May 6, 2022.

As part of our ongoing efforts to increase access and inclusion, organizers are implementing a blind review beginning with the 2022 conference. We are working with our partners at the Concourse Hotel to outfit conference rooms for virtual presentations and ensure appropriate health precautions. Apart from the submissions we receive, we will introduce special round table topics to ensure that work on and by marginalized groups is included on Conference programming.

Additionally, we strongly encourage panel submissions to demonstrate diverse gender representation and a balance of scholars across career stages. Please note conference policy barring multiple submissions, as well as the limitations on the number of panels within which each individual may appear. Presenters must register to participate in the conference.
