The Faculty of Arts, School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures (SLLLC) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Instructor in the area of Arabic Language and Muslim Cultures, effective July 1, 2017.
We are seeking a candidate who is focused on teaching and teaching innovation. The successful candidate will have a PhD or MA in Arabic Language, Linguistics or Literature, with expertise in language pedagogy and native or near native fluency in Arabic. The ideal candidate will also show evidence of excellent achievement in teaching. An ability to teach other languages of the Muslim World would be considered an asset.

The expectations of the position are to teach seven (7) courses per academic year, contribute to curriculum development, build student engagement in the new program, commit to School and University service, and engage with the local community.

The School of Languages, Linguistics, Literatures and Cultures is a newly formed unit whose faculty research and teach Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian and Spanish languages and related cultures as well as Linguistics. The latest addition has been the introduction of the program in Arabic Language and Muslim Cultures (ALMC). The School considers this an area that will grow in the coming years, and is looking for an energetic individual who can contribute to the evolution of ALMC.
