The Department of Religion at Columbia University invites applications for an assistant professor appointment in the study of Islam. Area of research and teaching specialization is open and may include, for example, any of the following: theology, law, anthropology, media studies, gender, philosophy, history, psychology, or material culture. Candidates should exhibit familiarity with religious studies theory and methodology. Demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary research and teaching is necessary. Ph.D. required by the time of appointment (July 1 2013). Candidates will be expected to sustain an active research and publication agenda and teach in undergraduate and graduate programs.
