The Canadian Society for the Study of Religion/Canadienne pour l’Étude de la Religion (CSSR/SCÉR) 2026 Annual Meeting will be held at St. John’s College, University of Manitoba, from Saturday, May 30 to Monday, June 1, 2026.
This year, CSSR/SCÉR is holding its annual meeting outside of Congress and in conjunction with the Canadian-American Theological Association (CATA), Canadian Society of Church History (CSCH), and the Canadian Theological Society (CTS).
This year’s theme, Common Places, Contested Spaces: Religion in Canada and Beyond, invites participants to reflect on how place and context shape religious traditions and the study of religion more broadly.

Volunteers Needed!
-
We are seeking 1–2 volunteers to assist with conference registration. This role will primarily involve handing out nametags and conference packets during the morning registration period each day, as well as serving as a point person for late arrivals once registration closes.
Student members are especially encouraged to volunteer. This is a great opportunity to help support the conference and meet fellow participants.
-
We are still seeking volunteers to chair several conference sessions. If you are willing to serve as a session chair for panels that do not yet have one listed in the draft program, we would greatly appreciate your help. Session chairs introduce presenters, help keep time, and facilitate brief discussion.
If you would like to get involved, please email our program chairs.
Accessibility and AV Needs
If participants have accessibility needs or require audiovisual support beyond standard projection, please notify our program chairs in advance so we can make the necessary arrangements.
