RETHINKING RELIGION:
CRITICAL STUDIES AND PERSPECTIVES ON RELIGION AND CULTURE

A New Book Series by CSSR/SCÉR and De Gruyter Brill

Rethinking Religion features scholarly works that investigate and question the complex relationships among religion, spirituality, and society and across historical and contemporary contexts. It includes monographs and edited volumes authored by emerging and established scholars from diverse global perspectives. The series adopts interdisciplinary theories and approaches, drawing from sociology, anthropology, comparative religious studies, Indigenous studies, history, and related fields. It explores how religious and spiritual identities, rituals, beliefs, and practices both shape and are shaped by societal structures, cultural norms, and global events. By critically engaging with the transformative roles of religion and spirituality in human lives and communities, the series offers fresh perspectives on their enduring significance in understanding society and its challenges.
