Description:

The Religious Studies Department was created in 1975 through an agreement between five institutions in the University of Waterloo: the University of Waterloo Faculty of Arts, Conrad Grebel University College, Renison University College, St. Jerome’s University, and United University College. The Department currently offers a four-year Bachelor of Arts Honours degree, a four-year general degree, a three-year general degree, a minor, and a Jewish Studies minor. In partnership with Wilfrid Laurier University, we offer a doctoral program in Religious Studies. As of July 1, 2026, the Department of Religious Studies will cease as an academic unit. All Religious Studies programming will fall under the newly created School of Social, Political, and Historical Research within the Faculty of Arts at the University of Waterloo.
