CSSR Member Dr. Pat Dold leads refugee-sponsorship effort

MUN professor leads refugee-sponsorship effort

Memorial University professor Patricia Dold is rallying people to help privately sponsor a Syrian refugee family to come to Newfoundland and Labrador.

As a private citizen following the European refugee crisis, Dold initially didn't know what she could do to help.

When she realized private co-sponsorship was an option, she decided to do something about it, and quickly put a call out on Facebook.

In Memoriam - CSSR Member Moshe Amon

I am writing to email contacts of my friend, Moshe Amon, to inform them of his death at home on November 5. Attached is a copy of the obituary notice to be run in the Vancouver Sun. There is one more article to go up on his website www.mosheamon.com as soon as I can finish proofreading. It is intended to keep the site alive for a couple of years, partly in the hope that there may be commenters to fill in more details of Moshe's eventful life.

In Memoriam: CCRR Research Associate and CRR board member, Massimo Rosati (1969-2014)

It is with great sadness that I inform you of the loss of CCRR Research Associate and CRR board member, Massimo Rosati. He died of a heart attack on January 30. Massimo was director of the Centre of the Study and Documentation of Religions and Political Institutions in Post-Secular Society at the University of Rome, Tor Vergata http://csps.uniroma2.it/. Pr. Leona Anderson appointed honorary title of Professor Emerita of Religious Studies by Faculty of Arts at University of Regina

Prof. Leona Anderson, retired as of June 30, 2013, has been appointed by the Faculty of Arts at University of Regina to the honorary title of Professor Emerita of Religious Studies. Professor Anderson’s contributions, both to the field of Religious Studies in general, and especially to our department specifically, have been enormous.

Two news items from the Religious Studies Department at Saint Mary's University - June 27, 2013

The Religious Studies Department [at Saint Mary's University] has two pieces of news for the CSSR:

First, the Department is welcoming Syed Adnan Hussain as a new full-time faculty member in the Department. He will be joining the Department on July 1, 2013. He is filling the new post on Islamic Studies.
