Statement from the CSSR on the passing of Dr. Andrew Rippin (Emeritus, University of Victoria):

The CSSR is sad to announce that Andrew Rippin passed away on November 29, 2016. Emeritus professor of Islamic History at the University of Victoria, elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada in 2006, Dr. Rippin’s significant contributions to the field of Islamic history and Qu’ranic studies includes “Muslims, their religious beliefs and practices” (2016, 6th edition). He was a Research Associate in the School of Oriental and African Studies (London) and Senior Research Fellow at the Institute of Ismaili Studies (London).
