Invitation to Awards to Scholarly Publications Program (ASPP) Publications Committee
The Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences runs the Awards to Scholarly Publications Program (ASPP), which provides financial support for the publication of scholarly books in the humanities and social sciences that make a significant contribution to knowledge and scholarship. The ASPP Publications Committee, comprised of specialists in all primary disciplines of the humanities and social sciences, evaluates grant applications and issue funding recommendations continuously throughout the year. Currently, we are looking for specialists in religious studies, and particularly francophones, for the ASPP Publications Committee.
This a volunteer position with a term of office of 3 years. The number of applications the program receives in a given field varies from year to year, but Publications Committee members could expect to review about 12 to 15 applications per year. Please note that this position does not require Publications Committee members to read the entire manuscripts. Because the entire manuscript has been read by a minimum of two (2) peer reviewers, the focus will be on their report and the author’s response to those reports. The program does not have deadlines and receives applications continuously throughout the year. Applications are assigned to Publications Committee members on a weekly basis, so the work is distributed somewhat evenly throughout the year.
