The Clemson University Department of Philosophy and Religion seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Religion in the area of Islam to begin August 15, 2014. In addition to an active research agenda, the ability to teach existing courses on the history of Islam and on the Qur’an, as well as upper-level seminars in the candidate’s area of specialization, is essential. Must also be willing to teach Studying Religion: Theories and Methods, a required course for majors, on a rotating basis with other department faculty. Excellence in both undergraduate teaching and scholarship is essential. Ph.D. prior to appointment.
