To promote the advancement of talented international researchers at the highest levels of the institution, the University of Groningen has initiated the prestigious Rosalind Franklin Fellowship programme. This ambitious programme has been running since 2007 and has financed over seventy fellowships.

The fellowship offers a tenure-track position leading towards a full professorship and it includes funds to support a PhD project. The fellowship is only awarded to outstanding researchers. The Rosalind Franklin Fellowship is an instrument to increase the number of female professors at the University of Groningen, and therefore only female candidates will be taken into account (under European jurisdiction it is lawful to specifically recruit underrepresented groups).

Job description
The Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Groningen invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position leading towards a full professorship. Application is open for all disciplines represented in the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies. However, in accordance with the strategic goals and the profile of the Faculty, candidates in the field of psychology of religion are particularly encouraged to apply. Psychology of religion has a long tradition in the Groningen faculty. The candidates’ field of expertise is open, but as the position is located in the Department of Comparative Study of Religion next to the disciplines of religious studies, anthropology, sociology, and history of religion, the candidate is expected to contribute significantly to general theoretical and methodological debates concerning the study of religion and needs to have a strong interest in interdisciplinary collaboration. The candidate should also be able to contribute to the MA programme Spiritual Care.

The successful candidate will set up her own research project(s). Rosalind Franklin Fellows will be expected to attract external funding. Although the first years include a strong focus on research, fellows will also contribute to the (international) teaching programmes within the faculty.
