Improvising South Asia – 43rd Annual Conference on South Asia 2014
Dear Past Conference Participants,
We are now accepting proposal submissions for the 2014 43rd Annual Conference on South Asia, to be held on October 16-19, 2014 at the Madison Concourse Hotel (1 West Dayton Street, Madison, WI 53703). The theme of this year’s conference is “Improvising South Asia.” We especially welcome panels that consider this theme in relation to a wide range of settings, whether it be music and theatre, architecture and design, or economic and cultural life. We hope to have an intellectually and geographically diverse set of discussions around this topic, and we also encourage proposal submissions which do not address the conference theme. Pre-Conferences
Please submit online requests to hold a Pre-Conference online by April 1, 2014. All pre-conferences will be held on October 16, 2014.
Proposal Calls
If you would like to place a call for pre-conference or panel participants, please send us an email with an abstract of your call and contact information. As a courtesy, we will post your call on our website, but interested individuals will need to contact organizers directly.
Proposal Submissions
The deadline for single paper, panel, and roundtable proposal submissions is Tuesday, April 1, 2014. All presenters, chairs, and discussants listed on a proposal will be required to register online by April 1, 2014 in order for the given proposal to be considered for review.
Registration
The registration fee is $100 for students, $200 for non-students, as well as a new emeritus/retired fee of $100. The registration deadline for all individuals listed on proposal submissions is April 1, 2014. For general conference attendees, early bird registration will be available through October 1, 2014.
Association Meetings
You may place an online request to hold your association meeting during the 43rd Annual Conference on South Asia. The deadline for association meeting requests is September 1, 2014.
Advertising Requests
We are accepting online requests for advertisements in our program book through September 1, 2014.
Special Event Requests
We are accepting online requests to hold special events at the Conference through September 1, 2014.
Accommodations
The UW-Madison Center for South Asia has secured a limited number of group rate accommodations for the conference. Please visit our lodging page for more information, or send us an email if you’d like to be added to the roommate board.
