INDIANA UNIVERSITY, Bloomington. The Department of Religious Studies
and the International Studies Program at Indiana University, Bloomington,
invite applications for a tenure-track position in the Department of
Religious Studies at the rank of assistant professor in Modern
(1800-present) or Contemporary Islam. Ph.D. or equivalent required.
Possible areas of specialization include Islam in South Asia, Southeast
Asia, Europe, or the Americas. Applicants should also demonstrate
engagement with wider issues in the study of religion. The successful
application will document ongoing research, a record of creative and
effective teaching, and an active professional profile. Teaching
obligations will include introductory courses in Islam, mid and
upper-level undergraduate courses in Religious Studies and International

Studies, as well as graduate training at the master’s and doctoral
levels. Deadline for applications: Monday, October 1, 2012. Applicants
