Call for Papers
The Yale Journal of Music & Religion is a peer-reviewed, open access journal of interdisciplinary scholarship that provides a forum for the study of sacred music in all of its ritual, artistic, and cultural contexts. Twice a year, YJMR publishes scholarship on religious music of all traditions across a range of methodologies, with the goal of encouraging the study of the full array of musical, ritual, literary, and other artistic forms that co-constitute the worlds of beliefs and practices.
The journal is published by Yale Institute of Sacred Music, an interdisciplinary graduate center educating leaders who foster, explore, and study engagement with the sacred through music, worship, and the arts in Christian communities, diverse religious traditions, and public life.
Indexing. As a brand new journal, YJMR will be under evaluation by major indexes such as Thomson-Reuters and SCOPUS for the next two years before acceptance into their arts and humanities branches. YJMR is already well positioned for entry to the open-access directories DOAJ and OASPA, and in addition, all the journal’s articles are indexed in the world’s major library catalogs and databases: OCLC Worldcat, ProQuest’s Summon, Ex Libris’s Primo, and EBSCO Discovery. The entire run of the journal is and will continue to be preserved in the two leading preservation archives, CLOCKSS and Portico, which guarantee persistent access for the very long term.
DOI® number. Each paper published in YJMR is assigned a digital object identifier (DOI®), which appears beneath the author abstract and recommended citation in the published paper.
YJMR is inviting papers for
