The University of Prince Edward Island announces a full-time, tenure track, position in the Department of Religious Studies at the level of assistant professor to commence in January of 2017. We are seeking candidates who specialize in one of the following areas: Islam; The Religious Traditions of Canada. This appointment is subject to final budgetary approval.

The successful candidate must possess the following:

  • A Ph.D (or equivalent) in Religious Studies or a related discipline with a teaching and scholarly emphasis upon religious issues.
  • Evidence of undergraduate teaching success.
  • Willingness and ability to teach RS 101 (Western Religious Traditions) on a regular basis.
  • Willingness and ability to teach courses that may be cross-listed with other departments in UPEI’s Faculty of Arts.
  • Willingness and ability to develop online or blended courses.
  • Evidence of recent or imminent scholarly accomplishment in the area of specialization and a well-defined scholarly agenda.
