Remembering Helen Mo

 In Members' Corner, Uncategorized

Dearest Family and Friends,

Our beloved Helen Mo passed away on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. She died in her sleep during the early morning hours. It was unexpected, but peaceful and painless. She was 33 years old. She was full of happiness and delight in her final days, and most importantly, Helen knew that she was deeply loved and respected by all of us.

Although she died in her sleep, Helen did not go gently into the night. Helen had an insatiable appetite for life and she never took a single moment that she had with us for granted. She was a lifelong student, natural teacher, fierce feminist, kind stranger, brilliant PhD candidate, incredible friend, loving daughter, caring sister, and the perfect wife.

Helen is the love of my life and I will forever cherish the last sixteen years that I have had with her. Helen told me often that she measured her worthiness by the amount of joy that she brought to others. She believed that every bit of good that she planted in us would grow and spread beyond her reach to make the world a better place.

The outpouring of love from all of you is a testament to Helen’s success. On behalf of myself and our families, thank you all for your support and kind words.

Many of you have asked how you may contribute, assist, and otherwise show your support. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, our family will be accepting donations. Initial proceeds will be used to plant a tree in the City of Toronto in Helen’s name. All remaining funds will be directed towards a scholarship that the Department for the Study of Religion at the University of Toronto will be creating in Helen’s honour. Further details will be posted on the website (http://www.rememberingHelen.ca) as they become available.

From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for filling Helen’s life with love, friendship, and laughter.

Sincerely,

Helen’s family
