Limited Term Appointment in Religious Studies — St. Thomas University

The Department of Religious Studies, St. Thomas University, invites applications for a 10 month limited-term appointment, at the rank of Assistant Professor, to begin August 1, 2017, pending budgetary approval.

St. Thomas University is an undergraduate, liberal arts institution with a full-time enrolment of 1,900. Its students graduate with Bachelor of Arts, Applied Arts, Education, and Social Work degrees. The faculty members are distinguished teachers, researchers and scholars, and the university holds four Canada Research Chairs.

The Department of Religious Studies seeks candidates with a focus on Eastern/Asian Religion, area of specialization open, with an ability to teach thematic courses and Introduction to Religious Studies.

A PhD or imminent completion is required. Completed applications must include a letter of application that describes the applicant’s teaching experience, scholarly interests and achievements, and potential contributions to the program as specified in the qualifications listed above. The application must also include a curriculum vitae and a teaching dossier that provides evidence of teaching effectiveness, such as sample course syllabi, teaching evaluations, and a statement of teaching philosophy.
