Ursula K. Le Guin panel at the AAR

Dear friends and colleagues,

As you probably know, Ursula K. Le Guin passed away early this year, leaving us bereft of the sort of clear-eyed, complicated, ethical imagination this world sorely needs.

Throughout her long career, Le Guin’s writing explored themes of religion, myth, and ritual in their intersection with gender, power, and relations with the natural world. Michael Ostling (ASU) and I have hastily thrown together the beginnings of a panel honoring and exploring this aspect of her work for the AAR meeting in Denver this November. We need a few more participants: a CFP is attached.

Please send this out on your various networks. We would especially like this to get into the hands of graduate students. The deadline is very tight: we need proposals by Feb. 20 or so so that we can submit the panel package to the AAR by March 1.
