Call for Essays

We are seeking essays for the Handbook on Religion and the Body to be published
by Routledge. The main purpose of this volume is to document and interrogate
the body in religions. Essays discussing various aspects of the body in various
religions, regions, and historical periods employing diverse methods and theories
are invited. The essays could discuss the body in religious texts, rituals,
performances, practices, etc. The volume aims to provide fruitful interaction and
integration of the very diverse forms of practiced and pursued embodied
knowledge. Each essay should be 6000-8000 words in length including endnotes
and bibliography. All interested to contribute to this volume may send a proposal
of no more than 200 words and current CV to Dr. George Pati at
george.pati@valpo.edu and Dr. Yudit Greenberg at ygreenberg@rollins.edu by
December 15, 2019. Notification of acceptance of proposals will be sent out by
January 10, 2020. Along with the notification of acceptance of proposal we will
send more information about the volume and the format guideline. We hope to
receive the essays by December 15, 2020.
