Dear Colleague:

We are engaged in an academic research project entitled: Cultural and Religious Identity among 18-40 year-olds in Canada. Part of the project is a web-based survey that seeks to find out how members of this broad age group understand their cultural and religious identities.

We are very pleased to announce that our web-based survey on Cultural and Religious Identity in Canada is now live in both English and French.

We are interested in hearing from all adults in the given age range who wish to tell us about how they understand and how they live their cultural and religious identities. The information we collect will be analyzed and presented to a range of outlets (e.g. academics, organizations/groups for, and working with, religious young people, policy makers, and other interested parties).

Participants do not have to answer all survey questions to take part in the survey. All the information collected will be kept confidential and all identifiable information will be removed or changed in the research findings. The survey is in fact taken anonymously.

The study has been approved by the Research Ethics Board of the University of Ottawa. Any ethical concerns about the study may be directed to the Protocol Officer for Ethics in Research, University of Ottawa, Tabaret Hall, 550 Cumberland Street, Room 154, Ottawa, ON K1N 6N5; Tel.: (613) 562-5378; Email: ethics@uottawa.ca. (It may be that your university requires separate ethics approval for you to be able to help us recruit in this way. If so, please let me know.)

The survey can be accessed at: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/C-RidentityProject (English version) or https://fr.surveymonkey.com/s/identiteCetR (French version)

For further information, visit the project’s website at: http://religionanddiversity.ca/fr/projets-et-outils/projets/rjirja/ (French) or http://religionanddiversity.ca/en/projects-and-results/projects/riyyar/ (English)

You or anyone else can also contact me directly with questions (pbeyer@uottawa.ca).

If you know of adults between the ages of 18-40 who might be interested in this survey, please forward the URL to them or to anyone who might forward it on to potential participants.

We are also attaching a couple of power point slides about the project that could be integrated into your class PowerPoints. You may download them here

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our knowledge and understanding of the identities and views of younger adults in Canada.
Thank you,

Peter Beyer
