Postdoc and PhD Studentship opportunities at Newman University (UK)

The Science and Religion in Society Research Group at Newman University is offering 2 exciting opportunities, for a Postdoc/Research Associate and PhD student:

1. We are looking to recruit a *fixed-term psychology of religion research associate* to work principally on the “Gods in Minds: God Complexity and the Multiple God-Aspects Framework” project. As part of their role within the wider research group, the Research Associate will also work for a percentage of their time on the social/experimental research strand of the ongoing “Science and Religion: Exploring the Spectrum” project. Applicants will hold, or be near to completing a relevant doctoral qualification, and will have a record of research activity commensurate with their career stage. We welcome applications from experienced, enthusiastic and creative early career researchers with backgrounds in social psychology or other related fields. Given the short turn-around for the position, *applicants must either have UK or EU citizenship or have right to work in the UK. *The post starts in May 2015 and continues until September 30, 2017. 2. Applications are invited for *one fully-funded PhD Studentship for three years* (full-time) for *UK or EU students* to work within a broader multidisciplinary research team on the “Science and Religion: Exploring the Spectrum” project. In addition the university will offer *a one-year postdoctoral follow-on research position* dependent on the successful submission of a PhD thesis within three years of commencement. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an *hourly paid research assistant role *within the project team. The successful applicant will undertake research exploring contemporary debates surrounding ‘science and religion’ in one of the following areas:

a. Social Sciences and/or Humanities approaches to media, social media and public space discourse surrounding evolutionary science and religion.

b. Quantitative approaches to public perceptions and attitudes concerning the relationship between science and faith.
