Description:
The Religious Studies program at CBU focuses on teaching religion from a comparative perspective. It regularly offers introductory courses to world religions, religion in popular culture, religion and politics, and focuses on the idea of identity formation, global issues, and cultural conflicts. The majority of Religion courses offered are cross-listed with history, gender and women studies as well as philosophy. Therefore, they serve many other programs at CBU. Overall, I would say that the Religious Studies program at CBU is a service program, in that these courses fulfil requirements of degrees in other programs (Religion courses are part of a group of core courses that students are required to take in the School of Arts and Social Sciences. They also fulfil many elective needs of students). Therefore, enrolment in Religion courses at CBU is very good, usually filled to the course cap.
