CSSR Graduate Student Essay Contests – Deadline extended to May 1st

This is an open call for undergraduate, Masters and Doctorate level essays. If you’re a student in good standing, send us your essay. Extended deadline to submit papers is May 1, 2016!
Professors, tell your students about this opportunity to enter the CSSR Essay Contest. Winners will be given the opportunity to present their papers at next year’s CSSR annual meeting.
Undergraduate Student Essay Contest Guidelines:
Subject: Any topic in the general field of religious studies
Language: English or French
Length: 2500-3500 words, typed and double-spaced
Eligibility: Any undergraduate currently registered in a Canadian university or college
First Prize: $250
Second Prize: $50

Graduate Student Essay Contest Guidelines
Subject: A theme in the general field of religious studies
Language: English or French
Length: 3000-5000 words, typed and double-spaced
Eligibility: Students with Master’s or PhD student status in a religious studies programme in a Canadian university or Canadian graduate students registered in programs outside of Canada (include proof of Canadian citizenship) who are members in good standing of the Canadian Society for the Study of Religion (CSSR).
There will be two awards given, one for the MA and one for the PhD.
PhD prize: $650
MA prize: $250
